Former champion Shane Carwin agrees to return to the UFC for a super fight against Brock Lesnar

In 2010, Shane carwin was interim heavyweight champion and faced the then definitive champion Brock Lesnar for title unification at UFC 116. After an overwhelming first round, Shane ended up being surprised in the second round and lost the fight via submission. More than four years later, and officially away from MMA since 2013, veteran Carwin assured that there is still one thing that would make him come out of retirement and return to the Octagon: a rematch against Lesnar in a superfight.

When asked by the North American channel “FOX Sports” about the chance of meeting his former tormentor again, Carwin didn’t think twice. "I'm in. All the pain will be worth it”, said the 39-year-old athlete who has not fought since 2011, when he was severely punished by the Brazilian Junior Gypsy. When talking about the desire for revenge against Brock Lesnar, Shane also relived the drama of his defeat in 2010. “I almost died in that fight. In the second round, anyone could trip and fall on me”, he guaranteed.

In recent weeks, rumors about a possible return of Brock Lesnar to MMA intensified, after an interview given by Jim Ross – former commentator for WWE, a pro wrestling (telecatch) for which the former UFC champion has been active since leaving the Octagon. Ross stated that Lesnar is in great shape and that he believes he will return to Ultimate as soon as his current contract ends. However, despite the encouraging prognosis and the desire for a rematch, Shane carwin does not believe in the rival's return. “He’s not coming back. I don’t even know why he has this desire”, he analyzed.

At 39, Shane carwin He ended his MMA career with a record of 12 wins and just two losses, suffered precisely in his last fights as a professional. Former holder of the heavyweight belt from the Ring of Fire event, Carwin won the interim UFC belt in March 2010 by defeating Frank mir by knockout in the first round.
