TJ Dillashaw undergoes elbow surgery before facing Dominick Cruz

Bantamweight champion must stop training for up to five weeks

the american TJ Dillashaw should wait a little longer for his next title defense. The UFC bantamweight champion underwent surgery on his left elbow last Friday. The Brazilian executioner Renan Barao revealed that he was suffering from swelling in the joint, which caused a build-up of fluid.

“(The elbow) was swollen because of the elbows I hit on Joe Soto”, said the champion remembering his fight against Joe Soto, at UFC 177, on August 30, in his first title defense.

The champion will have a splint on his arm for three weeks and will be able to return to training in approximately five weeks.

TJ Dillashaw he already knows his next opponent inside the octagon. TJ will face the former champion Dominick Cruz, earning the rooster title. No date has yet been set, the fight should take place in February or March.
