Looking to achieve an unprecedented chance for the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.), Arman Tsarukyan is willing to go against the wishes of Islam makhachev and ‘cutting the line’ in the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg). Aware that the champion wants to face Justin gaethje in the middle of the year, the Armeno stated that he will defeat Charles of the Bronx on April 13 and become the next challenger.
“I think he (Makhachev) should wait for us. Let's be the number one candidate. I hope they won't reserve this fight (Makhachev vs. Gaethje) for the (North American) summer and will wait for us. Then, when I win, I will fight with Islam. So we can talk about Gaethje”, declared Arman in an interview with Daniel Cormier.

When detailing the planning, Tsarukyan expressed optimism about his upcoming commitments.
“I feel like we’re next. Gaethje has to wait for us. Gaethje has to wait until October, ok, let's fight for the title in the summer; Whoever wins, me or Oliveira. Who knows, maybe I won't get hurt (in the UFC 300) and I mourn in July. I hope to beat Charles Oliveira, knockout in the first round, and then be able to fight for the title. I can’t wait for this moment,” he concluded.
Escalated to the awaited UFC 300, Arman Tsarukyan search lives up to favoritism in bookmakers in the face of Charles of the Bronx. Despite Islam's statement, the athletes were promised by Dana White that the winner will be the next title challenger. The confrontation takes place in Las Vegas (USA), on April 13th.
