The fight against Glover Teixeira at UFC 179, on October 25th, it won't be the first time Phil Davis in Brazil. The North American, in fact, has already come to the country twice to compete in the UFC, winning both times, against Wagner Caldeirão, in 2012, and Lyoto MachidaIn 2013.

Furthermore, Davis maintains an undefeated record against Brazilian fighters, also surpassing Rogério Minotouro and Vinny Magalhães. Such a history left “Mr. Wonderful” open to receiving a new nickname: the Brazilian killer.

“I'm not going to call myself a Brazilian killer, but if anyone wants to call me that, feel free to do so,” commented Davis, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”. “I always have good performances when I'm in Rio. I hope this isn't my last time in Brazil. I love Brazil, I love Rio. The long journey doesn’t bother me.”

The nickname “Matador de Brasileiros” (“Brazilian Killer”, in English), appeared in MMA in the early 2000s. North American Alex Stiebling had six consecutive victories against Brazilians, including against Allan Góes and Wallid Ismail in PRIDE. However, in 2002, Stiebling was defeated by technical knockout to Anderson Silva after suffering a large cut caused by a shin splint. After that, he also lost to Rogério Minotouro (2004) and Murilo Ninja (2009).
