Jon Jones is not necessarily known for his patience, especially on social media, and it is not uncommon to see the light heavyweight champion question his critics, whether on Twitter or Instagram. This time, however, “Bones” target was not a fan, but a division rival, Phil Davis. The confusion began after a publication by Davis giving his opinion on the fight between Jones and Daniel Cormier at UFC 182.

"Phil Davis believe that Daniel Cormier it will hurt Jon Jones”, said a news call on the Twitter, which was soon replicated and answered by Jones. “Phil Johnson (sic) believes what? Has he at least reached the status of division gatekeeper?”, asked the champion in a provocative tone, without even making a point of getting his rival's name right.

At 27, Jon Jones has a professional record of 20 wins and just one loss. Light heavyweight champion and record holder for consecutive title defenses in the category, Jones faces the undefeated challenger Daniel Cormier at UFC 182, which takes place on January 3, 2015. Expectations for the duel intensified after the duo fought during a promotional event last August.
