Anderson Silva goes back and plans trilogy with Weidman: 'If I have the chance, I'll fight'

The Brazilian, defeated by the current middleweight champion twice, had already declared that he would never fight for the belt again

Anderson Silva He has always been a fighter with little, if any, fear of changing his opinion over time. After denying several times that he would grant a rematch to Chael Sonnen, ended up facing him in 2012. A year later, after being defeated by Chris Weidman, Spider said he wouldn't face him again, but did so six months later. With the second setback for Weidman and the broken left leg, Anderson had said he would not fight for the belt again. However, all it took was time to pass for the former middleweight champion to be planning a third meeting with his North American tormentor.

“I think about fighting for the title again, of course. I have seven fights in my contract and, if I have the chance to fight for the belt again, I will fight. I will fight the fights that I have in my contract and, if I have the chance to fight for the belt, whether I am Weidman or not, and not being a friend or a training partner, I will be happy”, said Anderson in an interview with his manager Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães, on the program “Passando a Guarda”.

Before thinking about a title or even a trilogy against Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva There is another challenge ahead. On January 31st, in Las Vegas (USA), Anderson will face the North American Nick Diaz in the main fight of UFC 183, an event that takes place on the same weekend as Super Bowl (American football final). At 39 years old, Spider has a professional record of 33 wins and six losses. Diaz, 31 years old, has a record of 26 wins, nine losses and one fight without result. Like Silva, the Californian will return to the Octagon after a long hiatus, in his case due to an early retirement announced in March 2013.
