The atmosphere heated up between the fighters Colby covington e Belal Muhammad |, who exchanged insults on social media before the UFC 296, which takes place this Saturday (16/12) in Las Vegas. The American, who fights for the welterweight belt against the champion Leon edwards, called his potential opponent a racist and said he doesn't deserve a title shot.
It all started when Muhammad, who is the official reserve for the main fight, posted a video in which Covington appears saying that Edwards gained his position because of the color of his skin, and that this would be a white privilege. Belal, who is of Palestinian origin, criticized Colby's stance and accused him of being a hypocrite and coward.

Covington, however, didn't leave it cheap. At a press conference on media day, Chaos responded, reproduced Muhammad's words and accused him of racism.
“No, who wants to fight a racist? I mean, could you imagine if I told you that someone gained something from their skin color? This is absolutely despicable. It's disgusting. This guy didn't deserve anything. It's not my fault he's not a star. You have to become a star. I was the one who did the things that needed to be done to become a star like me. What did he do? He did not do anything. He's out there saying 'you got this because of the color of your skin, it's white privilege'. Are you kidding me? Man, he's not going to get any title shots. There will be no title fight for him,” said Covington, who is known for his provocations and controversial statements.

The rivalry between the two increased expectations for the UFC 296, which will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Edwards and Covington.
The event will also have other prominent fights, such as Alexandre pantoja against Brandon royval by the fly belt, and Tony Ferguson against Paddy Pimblett light hair.
