'Werdum doesn't have what it takes to beat Velasquez', says Browne

Last opponent questions the power of the Brazilian's strikes and says the champion is too intelligent to fall for his game

Travis Browne knows the game of Fabricio Werdum. The Hawaiian was the Brazilian fighter's last opponent in a fight held in April, won by Werdum in a unanimous decision by the judges. The victory put the gaucho in the position of next challenger for the UFC belt, but, according to Browne, Werdum doesn't have the game to defeat the champion, Cain Velazquez.

Browne recognizes that the best path for Werdum would be the ground game, but he doesn't believe that Werdum will be able to take down the American. “Werdum doesn't have what it takes to beat Cain. He really doesn’t have it”, he said, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”. “Cain is a very smart fighter. I believe he will not put himself in a position to be finished. That's where Werdum would win the fight. He won't be able to put Cain on his back like he was able to do to me. Cain is too smart to play his game,” he commented.

“Hapa” also doesn’t see Werdum in a position to defeat Velasquez in a stand-up fight. “I received Werdum's best blows in striking and not once did he leave me dizzy. Maybe I have a chin Mark Hunt, but his blows didn’t bother me”, he reported.

The fight between Fabricio Werdum e Cain Velazquez will headline UFC 180, which will be held in Mexico City.
