Already full of big names and seen as one of the most balanced in Ultimate today, the welterweight division has just gained another weight boost: the former challenger for the UFC title World Series of Fighting Josh Burkman. The North American's arrival at the largest MMA organization on the planet was recorded by president Dana White on his official profile on Twitter.

“Welcome back to the UFC, Josh Burkman. It’s good to have you back”, published the manager, along with an image of Burkman signing his new contract with the event. Josh had already been part of the TUF 2 cast and was an Ultimate athlete between 2005 and 2008, when he was fired after suffering three consecutive defeats. Outside of Ultimate, the North American won nine fights and lost two others.

Before leaving the event, Burkman was seen as one of the favorites to face Rousimar Toquinho, now holder of the division's belt. In his last fight, Josh beat Tyler Stinson at WSOF 9, on March 29th.
