Rogério Minotouro admitted to having been scared at the time of the kidnapping that took place in a hotel in Brasília, this Monday (29). An armed man, claiming to be a terrorist, invaded the place and took an employee hostage, claiming to have a bomb. Minotouro, who was staying at the hotel with his twin brother, also a UFC fighter Rodrigo Minotauro, said he had a hard time believing what was happening.

“We were in Brasília to see the training of the Team Nogueira franchise that we have there. We took a training course with them. I was leaving the hotel and not believing it all. I thought it was a joke when they spoke on the phone. It even took us a while to get to the elevator”, said Minotouro, in an interview with “LANCE!Net”. “They called the room phone and said that there was a terrorist in the hotel and that we had to get down as quickly as possible. I thought it was a test, something like those fire drills. I thought it was funny, at first I didn't really believe it. I left the hotel, when I got down there I saw police and a lot of people. I didn’t get nervous, because I didn’t have faith in what was happening,” he added.
Even though he realized the intensity of the events, Minotouro declared that he never lost his calm. “I thought it was a fire test. When we got down, the driver was already down there and we didn't stay long. The police kept coming. It was BOPE, firefighters… Just people coming in. I had never seen anything like terrorism. It was strange, but we were calm,” said the fighter.
The man surrendered late in the afternoon, when it was discovered that both the weapon used and the bombs were fake.
