Recent statements from Vitor belfort irritated Chris Weidman, provoking a harsh response from the UFC middleweight champion to his next challenger inside the octagon.

Last week, the Brazilian commented on the North American's injury which caused the postponement of the fight between them from December to probably February of next year. Belfort complained about what happened and suggested the creation of an interim belt, also taking the opportunity to needle Weidman and saying that his rival would like to spend Christmas as champion.

In an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”, on the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Weidman adopted a more aggressive speech than usual. “He’s just trying to talk nonsense, but there’s no basis for that. This guy hasn't fought since November. We were supposed to face each other in July, and he pulled out of the fight because he failed a drug test. I just laugh”, commented the champion, whose last fight was in July, at UFC 175, when he defeated Lyoto Machida by decision.

Enraged by Belfort's words, Weidman promised that he will take out his anger in the Octagon. “I want to make him feel ashamed, I want him to feel like an old, wrinkled man. I want to play with him, throw him around, hit him standing up, then almost finish him and hit him some more. He pissed me off,” he signed off.
