Dana agrees with punishment for Jones and Cormier: 'It was a very serious mess'

Duo were ordered to pay a cash fine and perform community service for fighting in August

This Tuesday (23), the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and your next challenger Daniel Cormier were fined and ordered to perform community service by the Nevada Athletic Commission due to the fight they had during a promotional event in Las Vegas (USA) in August. In an interview with Ultimate's official website, president Dana White stated that he considers the sanctions imposed on the duo to be fair and once again criticized the confusion.

“You have to remember what happened. These guys 'got away with it' inside the lobby of the MGM Grand Garden (hotel). They were there to promote a fight. There were a lot of ordinary people around, staying at the hotel, and the two of them were there in full fight. This was a very serious confusion”, said the director, in an interview with “The Download” section.

For the fight in Vegas, Jon Jones was ordered to pay a fine of US$40 (approximately R$95,9) and perform 40 hours of community service. Already Daniel Cormier, was fined US$9 (approximately R$21,5) and must perform 20 hours of community service. The duo must comply with the sanctions before the duel between them, scheduled for UFC 182, on January 3, 2015.
