Paulão saves Brazilian homeland in Dream

The tenth edition of Dream recently ended in Saitama, Japan, and the event was not good for the Brazilians. André Galvao, competing in the welterweight GP, ended up being defeated in the semi-finals by Jason high. In super fights, André Dida was knocked out by the Japanese Katsunori kikuno e Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro was defeated by Shinya Aoki in the arbitrators' decision. The only Brazilian victory in the show was for Paul Philo, which ended Melvin manhoef with an armbar in the first round. The GP belt up to 77kg was for Marius zaromskis that, after passing through Hayato Sakurais, he knocked out Galvão's executioner and took the title.

André Galvão vs. Jason High
Having his fourth fight in MMA, André Galvão suffered his first defeat in his career. The Brazilian was better in the first round when he got his opponent's back, but was unable to finish the fight, however, in the second round, High imposed his best striking and ended up winning by split decision from the judges.

André Dida vs. Katsunori Kikuno
Away from MMA competitions since March 2008, André Dida was surprised in the fight against Katsunori Kikuno. With a studied start, the Japanese managed to take down the Brazilian just over three minutes into the fight and soon got into mount. In an attempt to defend himself, Dida offered his back, but was punished with ground and pound until the referee interrupted.

Paul Philo vs. Melvin Manhoef
In an exciting fight, Paul Philo returned to the Japanese ring after two and a half years. With an electrifying start, Manhoef attacked the Brazilian, landing several blows against Paulão who ended up with a knockdown and being severely punished with ground and pound. When the fight resumed on the feet, Paulão managed the takedown and quickly grabbed the Dutchman's arm and finished with an armbar.

Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro vs. Shynia Aoki
In one of the most anticipated fights of the night, two ground game specialists spent most of the fight on their feet. Using his greater wingspan, Aoki delivered good kicks to the plexus of Shaolin who was trying to take him down. Only in the final half of the second round did the Brazilian manage to take the fight to the ground, where he worked well with ground and pound and easily defended the Japanese's offensive guard. At the end of the fight, both fighters left celebrating, but the referees decided that Aoki would win. Check out the full results:
