Former Bellator featherweight champion (up to 65,9kg), the American A. J. McKee did not hide his regret over the sale of the organization to the PFL. In an interview with MMA Fighting, the 'Mercenário' expressed gratitude for the time spent in the company but did not hide his sadness at the imminent end.

“Everything I built, everything I know goes through Bellator. This is my house. Seeing this end is sad. But at the same time, it's business for me right now. Bellator is like home to me. Everyone here, the entire organization, the entire team is very loving. Everyone does what needs to be done. They help us as a team. Seeing this whole family scenario disappear makes me a little upset. I'm going to put one foot in front of the other and keep walking. This journey will not end, it will continue to go and go. I wish Bellator all the best. I hope everyone is okay. It’s all peace, love and blessings to me,” McKee said.
At 28 years old, AJ is on a three-fight win streak after the end of his short reign in the featherweight division, when he was defeated by the legend Patrick Pitbull. McKee has an MMA record of 21 wins and just one setback.
In addition to the official announcement, Donn Davis assured that the organization will hold an event in 2024 between PFL champions against Bellator champions. The president said that's what the fans will want, so that's what they will do. The event should take place in the first quarter of 2024.
PFL, founded in 2018, has stood out for investing in big stars, such as the heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and the youtuber Jake Paul, which became a phenomenon in boxing matches. The league has also sought to internationalize its brand by promoting regional leagues in Europe and the Middle East.
