Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao star in the biggest “Cold War” in recent boxing history. The two fighters, already considered the two greatest active boxers, have not yet managed to reach an agreement to face each other, despite the fight creating public expectations for years. And there are those who see a rivalry similar to this in MMA.

Roy Nelson believes he has not yet faced the current UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velazquez, because other people are doing everything they can to prevent the fight from happening. “This is the fight that needs to happen. It's like Pacquiao and Mayweather. They just don’t want it to happen”, said the fighter, in an interview with the North American website “FOX Sports”.

Nelson also criticized Velasquez's period of absence and considers that the marriage of his fights is done so that he has a greater chance of remaining as champion.

“I think the moment you're the champion, you just want things to stay the way they are. If I were the champion, I would do this. 'I have an injured foot, I can't fight... Oh, my shoulder hurts. Oh, my butt hurts,” he continued. “I think he just fought the same guys over and over again because they don't want the title to change hands,” he continued, referring to Velasquez's fights against Antonio Pezão e junior gypsy, whom he faced on two occasions each.

Finally, Nelson recalled the time he was almost chosen to face Velasquez, in 2006, at the Bodog Fight event. “I probably would have knocked him out. Back then, all I did was wrestle and jiu-jitsu, and all he did was wrestle,” he opined.
