Conor McGregor reveals his desire to surpass Anderson Silva’s mark in MMA: “Looking forward to it”

One of the biggest names in MMA, Conor McGregor, has a new goal in mind: surpassing the knockout record of Anderson Silva, considered by many to be the best fighter of all time.

The Irishman, who is preparing to face Michael chandler In his next fight, he revealed in a question and answer session on 'X' (formerly Twitter) that he is confident of reaching or surpassing the Brazilian's mark of 23 knockouts.

“My next one will be my 20th professional MMA knockout, so I'm definitely looking forward to that! 20ko in MMA is an incredible feat! Anderson has 23 points in total, so good aim for me!” McGregor wrote.

Currently, the Irishman has 19 knockouts in 22 MMA victories, eight of which in the UFC. Already Anderson Silva, who left the organization in 2020 after losing to Uriah Hall, has 23 outcomes — including MMA, Muay Thai and boxing.

In May 2020, McGregor even challenged Silva to a fight at an 80kg catchweight, although the fight never materialized.
