Former heavyweight champion Junior Gypsy He traded his gloves and mouthguard for tennis shoes and a futsal ball, but only for a few hours and for a noble cause. This Wednesday (10), in Brasília (DF), Cigano participated in a charity match in favor of the Girarte Project, which serves around 230 young people in situations of social vulnerability in the federal capital.
The event, held by the UFC at the Gymnasium of the Catholic University of Brasília, also featured the participation of welterweight Ildemar Marajó. In front of an audience of more than approximately 400 people, the duo took some risks and tried to show intimacy with the ball at their feet. “I told the boys beforehand that the ball could pass, but they couldn’t (laughs)”, said “defender” Cigano, jokingly.
In total, more than half a ton of food was collected for the Girarte Project. The donations were exchanged for tickets to the official weigh-in for UFC Fight Night 51, which takes place this Friday (12), at Ginásio Nilson Nelson – the stage for the event the following day.
