The defeat for Fabricio Werdum in April seems to have done major damage to Travis Browne's reputation in Ultimate. This Tuesday (09), the organization announced that Browne, currently third in the heavyweight rankings, will face Brendan Schaub, who didn't even appear among the top 15 in the division, at UFC 181.
At 32 years old, Travis Browne has a professional record of 15 wins, one draw and two defeats, both against Brazilians – Antonio Pezão e Fabricio Werdum. Already Brendan Schaub, 31 years old, has a record of ten wins and four losses. The former American football player is coming off a defeat to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 174 in June.
UFC 181 takes place on December 6th, at Mandalay Bay, in Las Vegas (USA). In the main fight of the night, the Brazilian Vitor belfort challenge the champion Chris Weidman for the middleweight belt. In the co-main event of the night, Anthony Pettis puts the lightweight title on the line against challenger Gilbert Melendez. The duel between Pettis and Melendez also marks the TUF 20 coaches' clash.
