Temporarily sidelined from fights due to an injury, Alexander Gustafson All he thinks about is coming back and being able to compete for the UFC light heavyweight belt, which is currently in the hands of Jon Jones.

The Swede was scheduled to fight for the title this month, but left after injuring his knee. Replaced for Daniel Cormier in the fight valid for the belt, Gustafsson had his name linked to Anthony Johnson, who is on the rise in the organization after two consecutive victories. However, Gustafsson is not interested in facing Johnson, as he believes the fight “wouldn’t take him anywhere” in the light heavyweight division.

According to the fighter, Johnson still hasn't done enough in the UFC – and, to exemplify his opinion, Gustafsson poked Rogério Minotouro, “Rumble’s” last opponent. “If the fight took me somewhere, I would be the first to accept it. Since Johnson returned to the UFC after being expelled, he has beaten Antonio Rogério Nogueira, who is long past his expiration date, and Phil Davis. He still needs a few more victories,” said Gustafsson, in an interview with the Swedish newspaper “Expressen”.

Gustafsson stated that the UFC intends to hold a large event in Sweden next year, with a capacity for 50 people. If he receives the chance to fight for the title at the event, the fighter is not bothered by the downtime. “If they guarantee me a title shot in Sweden, I could wait up to three years. So, it doesn’t matter,” he added.
