If the duel Chris Weidman e Vitor belfort in the octagon it only takes place on December 6th, and the battle of the microphones has already begun. Commenting on the main fight of UFC 181 and the hearing at the Nevada Athletic Commission that confirmed Vitor as his challenger, Weidman said, in a provocative tone, that his biggest concern for the fight is that his opponent will be caught taking a drug test in Las Vegas ( USA) for the third time in his career.

“I didn’t watch the trial. I was in the pool with my children and lost track of time, but I would have liked to have seen the way he behaved. However, as soon as it was over, I was informed of what happened. Do I think he would do something dishonest? I wouldn't be surprised, because he's already been caught cheating twice. I wouldn't be surprised if he did something stupid again. My biggest worry is that he will get caught (in anti-doping) again. Even if he is taking something illegal. I don't mind. Just don't get caught doing it, because I want this fight whether he's wearing something or not. This is the fight I want, and he’s the guy I want to beat”, said the middleweight champion to the “Sherdog” website.

Despite the harsh words, the American said he maintains respect for Vitor, but assured that his reign in the under-84 kg division will be long. “I have a lot of respect for Vitor belfort and I have a lot of respect for the Octagon. Anyone who goes up there has my respect. The second I stop respecting the fighters and the octagon will be the second it takes for me to lose the belt. But my reign as champion will be very long. No one will take my title away for a long, long time,” he said.

To ensure he remains champion, Weidman analyzed his own game and highlighted his versatility as the key to overcoming Belfort wherever the duel takes place. “I see myself as a versatile fighter and I feel like I can do whatever I want in there. I can fight standing up and knock him out or I feel like I can take him to the ground and submit him. Nothing will come easy, and I always expect some resistance from my rivals, but I will complete my work, no matter if it means knocking him out or submitting him. I’ll do my job,” he concluded.
