UFC 294: Makhachev is favorite against Volkanovski; Chimaev has advantage over Usman

Neither the last minute change nor the fact of moving up a category were enough to take away the favoritism of Islam makhachev for the lightweight belt dispute (up to 70,3kg) against the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovsky in the main fight of UFC 294. According to the odds presented by “robot”, the lightweight champion is the favorite to walk away with the belt this Saturday (21/10).

In the other main fight of the event, also according to “robot", Khamzat Shimaev has huge favoritism to beat the former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in a duel for middleweight (up to 83,9kg).

Making an immediate rematch with the only man who defeated him in the UFC, Alexander Volkanovsky accepted the challenge of gaining weight and facing Islam makhachev in the main fight of UFC 294. The featherweight champion entered the card 10 days in advance, replacing Charles of the Bronx, who was removed from the card due to a cut on his eyebrow.

The Australian was defeated by Makhachev via unanimous decision in his first attempt to win the lightweight title, in February this year. With five defenses of the featherweight belt under his belt, he most recently defended his crown with a triumph over Yair Rodriguez, last July.

PUBLICITY:

Makhachev is looking for his second title defense and hasn't known what it's like to lose since 2015. Since then, the Russian has racked up 12 consecutive victories, the last of which was over Volkanovski himself.

In case of victory, the lightweight champion returns R$1,40 to the bettor for each real wagered. In case of “zebra”, whoever bets on Volkanovski takes R$2,90 for each real invested.

Khamzat Chimaev (R$ 1,30) x Kamaru Usman (R$ 3,45)

In the co-main fight of the night, valid for the middleweight belt, Khamzat Shimaev presents one of the biggest favorites of the event. The Swedish phenomenon comes from an impressive streak of 12 consecutive victories, 11 of which were by knockout or submission. He finished Kevin holland in his last fight, held in September 2022. Whoever chooses the favorite and puts their chips on Chimaev will have a return of R$1,30 for each real bet.

Moreover, Kamaru Usman tries to recover from recent defeats to Leon edwards. The Nigerian agreed to move up a category and face Chimaev with less than a month of preparation. He has a record of 20 wins and three losses. Anyone who prefers to take a chance on the “zebra” can pay R$3,45 for every real invested in the event of Usman's victory.
