The Strikeforce organization confirmed this Monday. that the black belt Fabricio Werdum will compete for the organization's heavyweight belt. The chuteboxer faces the Dutchman alistair overeem on August 15th, in San Jose, in the United States. This will be the second fight between the two, in the first challenge, the Brazilian submitted Alistair with a Kimura at PRIDE Total Elimination, in 2006
Werdum is coming off a knockout defeat to the fellow Brazilian Junior Gypsy at UFC-90, held in October 2008, while Overeem is coming off a victory over Gary Goodridge at Glory 10, held in November.
