Jon Jones apologizes for injury and reveals he will undergo surgery

Jon Jones spoke out for the first time since the news that his fight against Daniel Cormier, originally scheduled for September, had to be postponed to January due to a linjury suffered during training.

In your account at Facebook, the UFC light heavyweight champion apologized for what happened and stated that he will undergo surgery this Thursday (14) after injuring his ankle and knee. “I would like to apologize to all the fans who were excited about UFC 178. Earlier in the week, I suffered an injury while training for the fight. I will have surgery tomorrow (Thursday) and I am focused on recovering as quickly as possible. I look forward to getting back in the gym and defending my title on January 3rd in Las Vegas,” Jones wrote.

Initially, Jones would face Alexander Gustafson at UFC 178, but the Swede left the fight with a knee injury. Cormier was then appointed as a replacement, and the fight gained great prominence after the fighters fight at a press conference.

UFC champion since 2011, Jones will make his eighth title defense against the undefeated Cormier.
