Ronny Markes returned to MMA in style. After being released by the UFC in March, the Brazilian won in his debut in the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). In the 12th edition of the show, held this Saturday night (09), in Las Vegas, Markes defeated Cully Butterfield in a unanimous decision by the judges. With the triumph, Ronny rediscovered his winning path after suffering two consecutive knockouts in Ultimate.
In the fight, the Brazilian controlled the actions in the ground fight and took the initiative for most of the 15 regulatory minutes. At the end of the fight, which did not please the public present, Markes had his arm raised by the central referee, even with boos from the public who did not like the way the duel was going.
Peruvian wins and gets title shot
In the main fight of the night at WSOF 12, Peruvian Luis Palomino knocked out the previously undefeated Lewis Gonzales with a high kick in the first round. With the result, the South American won the right to compete for the lightweight category title. He awaits the winner of the fight between Justin gaethje, current champion, and the next title challenger, Melvin Guillard,
