William Gigante from Minas Gerais successfully defended his UFC heavyweight belt Jungle Fight. In the 72nd edition of the event, held this Saturday night (09), in São Paulo, he defeated Fabio Bondesan by technical knockout in the second round. The result marked Gigante's sixth victory in MMA, which also has two defeats.
The fight
As soon as the fight started, Gigante worked on his dangerous clinch game. Bigger and heavier, the champion pressed the challenger against the bars and threw blows to gain an advantage. Without standing, Bondesan tried to attack his legs, looking for a takedown, but he was the one who fell on two occasions.
Already worn out from the first round, Fabio didn't show much resistance in the second round. After Gigante took the fight to the ground, he threw several blows on top until referee Alessandro Souza stopped the fight and declared a technical knockout.
No-Content in the penultimate fight
The second most anticipated duel of the show brought a challenge between Brazil and Mexico. However, the fight ended without result. Mexican Fabian Quintanar was putting up a good fight against Brazilian Lucas Jesus. But an accidental finger in the Mexican's eye caused the fight to be stopped in the first round. Doctors examined the Mexican athlete and did not allow Quintanar to return to the fight, which ended without result.
