Jon Jones e Daniel Cormier continued in a tense atmosphere even a few hours after the fight they had this Monday (4), during a press conference held in Las Vegas (USA) to promote the fight between them at UFC 178.

The fighters, who will fight for the UFC light heavyweight belt on September 27th, participated in a joint interview with the North American broadcaster “ESPN” moments after the confusion. Champion of the organization's under-93 kg category, Jones began his participation in the attraction by apologizing for what had happened, something that, in Cormier's view, was not legitimate.

“First of all, I would like to apologize to the MGM Grand [the hotel where the confusion occurred], to the fans… I am definitely not proud of what I did today. But what happened was we locked eyes, our heads touched, our noses rubbed together. It's a very intimate and passionate moment for several fighters. I've never seen any fighter put their hands on me and squeeze my neck. I reacted to defend myself by hitting Daniel”, described the champion, who heard a response shortly afterwards.

“It’s so fake! It’s so fake,” Cormier interrupted, laughing. “I've never seen any fighter describe the moment as 'intimate and passionate'. I have no idea what Jon Jones is talking. You're right, people stand close to each other, but they don't put their heads against yours and push you forward. In my life, I will never, ever allow a man to be Mike Tyson at your peak, be Wladimir Klitschko, push me with your head and don't expect a reaction. Jon Jones He will never act like a bully with me”, said the challenger, undefeated in MMA after 15 fights.

Finally, Cormier took the chance to make heavy criticism of the stance presented by Jones. “This guy is such a fake human being… He is a fake person. I don't care what happened. I care about September 27th, about becoming UFC light heavyweight champion. He is weak, a bum, a liar, dishonest. He’s a lot of things he shouldn’t be proud of,” he criticized.
