Before being recognized worldwide, having million-dollar contracts, breaking records, winning the belt or even thinking about returning to fight after the fracture he suffered in his left leg, Anderson Silva, like all athletes, had to step into the octagon for the first time. And Spider's start in Ultimate couldn't have been more exciting. With his return scheduled for January 31st, in the fight against Nick Diaz at UFC 183, the SUPER FIGHTS recalls Anderson's debut in the biggest MMA organization on the planet.

Review the Brazilian's massacre of the TUF 1 participant Chris Leben, until then undefeated in Ultimate. The duel, which was the main fight of UFC Fight Night 5, lasted just 49 seconds and already qualified Anderson for a title shot. Also note the differences between the UFC eight years ago: Bruce Buffer's more restrained announcement, the lack of colored details on the gloves or even the way information was presented during broadcasts.
