Paulo thiago is without an opponent for UFC Fight Night 51, which will take place on September 13th in Brasília (DF). Joe Riggs, who would face the Brazilian at the event, suffered an incident with his gun on Monday night (28) and had to be removed from the schedule.
Riggs was cleaning a pistol when it accidentally discharged, hitting his hand and upper thigh. According to a statement issued by the UFC, the athlete was transported to a hospital in Arizona (USA), where he is being treated. The fighter is doing well.
An MMA veteran, Riggs would have his first UFC fight since 2006, when he retired from the event after being knocked out by Diego Sanchez. Since then, “Diesel” has worked for several organizations, including the renowned Strikeforce and Bellator, accumulating a record of 40 wins, 14 losses and one no-contest.
The Brazilian, in turn, suffered six defeats in his last eight fights. His new opponent will be Sean Spencer, who has a record of 11 wins and three losses in MMA and is coming off a setback to Alex Garcia at UFC 171 in March.
