Despite being overweight and unable to lose the excess in the two hours following the official weigh-in for UFC on FOX 12 this Friday (25), Brazilian Juliana Lima and North American Matt Brown will not be fined in 20% of your UFC pay stipends. The decision was made by the organization after an error by the California State Athletic Commission, which regulates fight night.

According to the website “MMA Junkie”, after presenting himself 1,1 kg above the welterweight category limit, Matt Brown, who is in the main fight of the night against Robbie Lawler, was not authorized by the Athletic Commission to try to lose excess weight in the two hours allotted to them. The imbroglio led to an argument between president Dana White and the representative of the regulatory body.

Dana did not want to impose a 20% fine on the athlete's wages, which would be divided equally between the Commission and the opponent, on the grounds that Matt Brown wanted to try to cut weight. The director won the arm wrestle with the entity and Brown did not receive the punishment. Juliana Lima ended up benefiting from the decision involving the North American, even though she only cut half of the 400 g needed to reach the weight limit for the strawweight category.

Another great news for both Juliana and Brown is that, also contrary to what usually happens with fighters who don't make weight, both athletes remain eligible for the prizes offered by Ultimate to athletes – the two performance bonuses and the prize offered to participants in the best fight of the night, worth US$50 (approximately R$111) each.
