The UFC's first time in Curitiba (PR), one of the main MMA hub cities in Brazil, must be postponed. After the announcement that edition 179 could leave Rio de Janeiro and move to the capital of Paraná, the original calendar will be maintained and Arena da Baixada is not in the plans until the end of the year. With this, the only pay-per-view Brazilian event in the year will actually take place in Rio de Janeiro, based at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho, on October 25th.
According to the North American website “MMA Fighting”, the UFC has already established the dates and locations of the four events that will take place in Brazil in 2014. According to the publication, following a note from the Terra portal, the largest MMA organization on the planet will hold events in Barueri (SP), Uberlândia (MG) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
After the news was released on the North American website, the SUPER FIGHTS found that Curitiba's absence from the UFC calendar in 2014 is certain and that the organization's plans for an event in the capital of Paraná have been postponed until next year. However, there is no estimated date or expected fights for the card.
Among the other confirmed fight nights, the visit to Uberlândia would be on November 8th, on the eve of another major international event that will take place in the country, the Brazilian Formula 1 GP. The event, which would be part of the Fight Night series, will take place at the Tancredo Neves gym, better known as “Sabiazinho”, with capacity for up to 8 thousand people. Finally, Ultimate would arrive in Brazil for the last time in 2014 on December 20th, at the José Corrêa gym, in Barueri.
The other event to be held is the already officially confirmed UFC Fight Night 51, which will take place on September 13th, in Brasília (DF). The card, scheduled for the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium, goes against the duel between Antonio Pezão e Andrei Arlovski as the main fight.
