Despite the injury that took him out of UFC 178, Alexander Gustafson promised that he will return and defeat the current light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones. The Swede was scheduled to fight for the title in September, but injured his knee and was forced to leave the contest.

On its official page on Facebook, Gustafsson sent a message to Jones, who will now face Daniel Cormier. “Jones, I see that you were happy, but if you go through DC, your nightmare will return more motivated than ever”, assured the Swede, who added: “Thank you everyone for your support. I'm going to come back stronger than ever and take MY belt”, he concluded.
