A complaint made by former fighter Enson Inoue promises to shake up the behind-the-scenes of MMA, especially with regard to the nostalgic memories of the extinct PRIDE – an event located in Japan and promoted between 1997 and 2007, when it was purchased by the UFC. On your official profile on Facebook, the Japanese released an excerpt from his contract with the organization in which it is clear that anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances would not be tested in the anti-doping tests applied, which would only prohibit the use of recreational drugs.
“Illegal use of narcotics: The fighter agrees to be tested, immediately after the fights of each event, to confirm that he is free from the use of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and barbiturates. If the test is positive, then the fighter must waive all payment stipulated by this contract. Stimulants that improve physical performance based on anabolic steroids are specifically excluded from the scope of the test”, says the excerpt reproduced by Inoue on the social network.
Asked about the veracity of the content released, Enson Inoue released a video in which he appears commenting on the complaint and showing copies of the contract signed in 2000 in both Japanese and English. “Someone stated that what I posted about the contracts didn’t seem like real proof, but they are,” the former fighter wrote alongside the post.
