Conor McGregor blasts Chad Mendes: 'An idiot for thinking Aldo is running away'

Irish UFC star, however, took the opportunity to poke at his rivals and say that their performances don't impress him

Always controversial and provocative, the Irishman Conor McGregor he does not always take a stand in favor of those who insult his opponents. Upon learning of the public exchange of barbs between the featherweight champion, José Aldo and the challenger Chad Mendes and the American's accusations that his rival was running away from the fight between them, McGregor came to the Brazilian's defense and called Mendes an “idiot” for raising such a hypothesis.

“I don’t believe the José Aldo is running away, he has defeated this guy before. Chad Mendes You're an idiot for thinking that. But to be honest, I don't care what happens between them. Their time is coming to an end and my time is beginning,” said the Irishman, who is in the main fight of UFC Dublin against Diego Brandao next Saturday (19), in an interview with the Tatame magazine website.

But if McGregor adopted a more polite speech to comment on the controversy between Aldo and Mendes, the provocative tone and his self-confidence quickly returned when comparing himself to the duo fighting for the belt. “Nothing they do impresses me. They don't move like I move, they don't fight like I fight... In short, they don't impress me. They say I'm number 13 in the rankings, but there's a typo in the list. Because I'm number one,” he concluded.
