It had everything to be a dream trip. According to the UFC fighter himself Bryan caraway, going to Mexico with his parents and girlfriend Miesha Tate It was the chance to repay all the effort his family made for him throughout his life. But the vacation in Cancún almost didn't turn into a big nightmare. This is because, during a boat trip, Caraway's mother suffered an asthma attack and was close to death, being saved by Miesha – who intervened in time.

According to reports from the fighters on the website “MMA Junkie”, the family was enjoying a boat trip, including a swim in the sea. Already aware of his respiratory condition, Bryan's mother had taken two inhalers, but did not realize that she had lost the one she was carrying with her. Then, when swimming back to the vessel along with other tourists, she felt very ill due to the physical exertion and lost consciousness. The trip guides even tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation before Caraway and Miesha arrived, but they didn't know exactly what had happened to the lady.

“When we arrived, she was already completely blue. Blue like in a cartoon, worse than in the movies. She was wide-eyed, but she didn't respond. Her throat was completely closed. It was the scariest thing I've ever seen. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t even know it was an asthma attack,” Bryan revealed. Given the situation, and the inefficiency of all previous attempts, Tate tried, in a desperate measure, to use a different resuscitation method.

“Out of nowhere, Miesha took the inhaler (a spare, which was on the boat) and, without thinking about what could happen to her, she took ten pumps into her own mouth and started giving my mother mouth-to-mouth resuscitation”, reported the fighter, who had already tried to use the inhaler previously, but was unsuccessful as his mother was not breathing. Faced with Miesha's maneuver, the lady began to breathe slowly again and regained consciousness after a few minutes, even apologizing in Spanish for the inconvenience.

"It was a relief. The fact that she spoke in Spanish, which is definitely not her language, and the fact that she knew she was in Mexico and spoke in Spanish to apologize made us know that her brain was probably ok,” Miesha said. After the big scare, Caraway's mother was hospitalized for a few days to treat pneumonia and some broken ribs, but she has since left the hospital and returned to the United States.
