Another UFC event had to undergo changes due to an athlete's injury. Michael Johnson, which would face Josh thomson on the main card of UFC on FOX 12, on July 26, in San Jose (USA), he suffered an injury whose details were not revealed and had to abandon the fight.
Shortly after the injury was announced, the UFC confirmed that Bobby Green will replace Johnson and face Thomson in the event. Green was preparing to face Abel Trujillo in August, but accepted the UFC's invitation to advance his preparations.
Johnson, 28 years old, is enjoying a good moment in the UFC, with three consecutive victories over Joe lauzon, Gleison Tibau and Melvin Guillard. The results placed the fighter in ninth place in the official lightweight rankings. Thomson, in turn, has alternated victories and defeats in six fights, the last being a controversial setback against Benson Henderson in the judges' decision. Even so, he is the third best placed in the division.
UFC on FOX 12 will be broadcast in its entirety on open television in the United States – including the preliminary card, which will not be able to be shown on the “FOX Sports” cable channel, as usual, due to the broadcast of MLB, the North American league of baseball. The main fight of the night will be between welterweights Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown, whose winner should be the next challenger for the category belt. In the co-main event, Rogério Minotouro returns to active duty after more than a year against Anthony Johnson.
