John Dodson suffered a severe blow to his intentions of facing again Demetrious Johnson for the UFC flyweight belt. The current number 1 in the under-57 kg division suffered a knee injury and had to undergo surgery this Wednesday (9).

Dodson injured his anterior cruciate ligament and recovery time is expected to be around six to eight months. Therefore, it is likely that the Jackson's MMA athlete will be out of action for a period of one year.

In his debut, he even knocked out TJ Dillashaw, current champion of the upper category. After he lost to Johnson, he beat Darrell Montague and John Moraga by knockout/technical knockout, which qualified him to compete again for the title in his category.
