The quick victory of Ronda Rousey about Alexis Davis at UFC 175, last Saturday (5), he impressed the entire MMA community. Even Miesha Tate, a great opponent of the UFC champion, had to give up and recognize the beautiful performance presented in Las Vegas (USA).
Rousey needed just 16 seconds to take away Davis' unbeaten record in the UFC, connecting with a straight right, a knee, a judo takedown and several ground strikes, knocking out her opponent.
In an interview with the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”, Tate commented on Rousey’s performance. “That was really incredible. Nobody expected that. I think that Alexis Davis didn't think Ronda had the skill to knock her out. Alexis was out before she even got to the ground”, said the fighter, who has already been defeated by Rousey on two occasions, via submission.
However, Tate recognizes that Rousey's victory affects all athletes in the female bantamweight division. “Ronda's reputation rose and put pressure on the rest of the category. This motivates me to go train, as I would love another fight with her. When I see her succeeding, it motivates me to improve,” she commented.
Tate and Rousey have already faced each other on two occasions, once in Strikeforce and once in the UFC. Both ended with Rousey winning via submission, the first in the first round and the rematch in the third.
