Justin gaethje retained the WSOF lightweight belt by defeating Nick Newell in the event held this Saturday (5), in Daytona Beach, Florida (United States). The belt holder dominated practically the entire fight against Newell, known for having suffered a congenital amputation in his left arm, and settled the score in the final half of the second round.

This was Gaethje's 12th victory, which remains undefeated in MMA. Newell, in turn, suffered his first defeat, interrupting a streak of 11 consecutive victories, two of which were in WSOF.

In the co-main event of the night, Jon Fitch dominated all three rounds in the fight against former UFC fighter Dennis Hallman, winning the judges' decision. It was the second victory in a row for Fitch, who thus reached two victories against one defeat since arriving at WSOF.

The Brazilian fighters ended the event with a negative balance. Gesias Cavalcante was defeated by technical knockout by former UFC fighter Melvin Guillard, after the referee stopped the fight during a sequence of blows while the Brazilian was still standing. Walber Brito de Barros was defeated by the judges' decision to Jose Caceres, and Neiman Gracie submitted Dustin Holyko in the second round.
