After arrest for threatening with a weapon, former UFC fighter Thiago Silva returns to MMA in August

Arrested in February after threatening his ex-wife and jiu-jitsu coach Pablo Popovitch with a firearm in the United States, the light heavyweight Thiago Silva He paid bail of US$25 (approximately R$55) and is free to await his trial, but wears a monitoring ankle bracelet. Thiago, who returned to training as soon as he left prison, already has a date set to return to MMA. On August 29th, the Brazilian will face former Bellator Mike Hayes, in the main fight of the Fight Time 20 event.

The information was released by the president of Fight Time, Howard Davis Jr., to the North American website “MMA Fighting”. The fight night that will feature Silva x Hayes as the main event takes place on August 29th, at the War Memorial Auditorium, in Fort Lauderdale (USA), coincidentally the same city in which Thiago was arrested.

In the early hours of February 07th, Thiago Silva  was arrested by Florida police, in the city of Ft Lauderdale, after breaking into the gym of Pablo Popovitch, current boyfriend of his ex-wife, Thaysa Kamiji, armed, and threatening people there. The Brazilian then locked himself in his house where he handed himself in to authorities after a few hours of negotiation. A SWAT team was requested to help arrest the fighter. Since then, the light heavyweight has been before the North American court a few times and in March he managed to be released on bail.
