In recent months, Vitor belfort has seen his name involved in several controversies outside the Octagon. The fighter's current career path was affected by the ban on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), in addition to failing a surprise doping test, carried out in February. Because of all this, Belfort was unable to fight for the UFC middleweight belt and he still doesn't even know when he will actually compete again.

In the anti-doping test, Belfort was caught with an amount of hormone above that allowed by regulation. Little by little, the athlete tries to clarify each of the controversies in which he was involved, and, in an interview with the “Combate” channel website, the “Phenomenon” attributed the irregularity to a change in the application of his hormones in his body.

“I had taken the injection the day before, I was in Las Vegas [USA]. Generally, I took the dose of my hormones throughout the week, but on that day I took the dose all at once. So, on that day of the exam, my hormone levels were a little higher, but nothing crazy. The limit was 1100, mine was 1200”, explained Belfort.

Last week, Belfort's wife and businesswoman, Joana Prado, revealed that the fighter would face the winner of Chris Weidman x Lyoto Machida, a fight that takes place next Saturday (5) and which will put the UFC middleweight belt at stake. Belfort, however, does not create expectations about this. “After this year of 2013 and after everything that happened, I only focus on what I have control over and don't waste time trying to control the rest. This is out of my control, so I don't even think about it. Now, whatever is in my control, whatever depends on me, I will continue to do,” he commented.

Finally, Belfort stated that he is confident that he will emerge even stronger from all the recent controversies. “I was always very honest, very correct, not only with myself, but with my family, my coaches, fans and the UFC itself, which stood by me. They know my nature and my character. Nowadays, pressure and difficulty only make me grow. This is how I live my life. The rainbow only comes out after a big storm. So, if there is a fight, it is because there will be victory”, he concluded.
