The UFC's global expansion project took another big step this Wednesday (25). The main MMA organization on the planet signed a development contract with the company Vale Tudo Japan (VTJ) for the production and operation of a new series of tournaments between fighters, along the lines of the The Ultimate Fighter, exclusive to the Japanese public and scheduled for release later this year. The information was released by President Dana White.

“Like The Ultimate Fighter, this series will continue to cultivate and popularize top talent in new markets. The tournament will feature incredible fights, with a lot at stake. Each performance will count and will be evaluated in detail in each fight. I’m very excited to be back in Japan,” said White.

The tournament will feature athletes from the bantamweight and featherweight categories and will award the winner a contract with the UFC – just as is already the case in TUF. More details about the format, participants and broadcast date of the program were announced for the month of September, when Ultimate arrives again in Japan, with UFC Fight Night 52, which features a duel between heavyweights Mark Hunt e Roy Nelson as the main fight.
