Thiago tavares he already has a new date to make his debut in the UFC featherweight category. It will be on August 16th, at the Fight Night event that will be held in the city of Bangor, Maine (USA). His opponent will be Robbie Peralta, who is coming off two consecutive victories in the UFC – in the last one, in São Paulo, he defeated Ron Jason in the judges' decision.
Tavares, a UFC athlete since 2007, will have his first fight in the 66 kg category. Until then, the Santa Catarina native had been playing at lightweight, having achieved a record in Ultimate of eight wins, five defeats and one draw (18-5-1 overall).
This will be Tavares' third attempt at making his featherweight debut. He has already had two fights scheduled previously – against Zubair Tuhugov, in Jaraguá do Sul (SC), and Tom Niinimaki, in Berlin (Germany) – but was forced to withdraw from the fights due to injury.
The main fight of UFC Fight Night Maine will be between light heavyweights Ryan bader e Ovince St Preux.
