After his most recent performance, when he lost to Gasan Umalatov in São Paulo, Paulo thiago was in a delicate situation within the UFC. After all, the fight marked his sixth defeat in the last eight fights, two in a row. However, despite the negative record, the fighter renewed his agreement with the organization for four more fights.

The information, originally given by the “Combate” channel website, was confirmed by Thiago himself to the North American “MMA Fighting”. The fighter said he feared he would be fired after his last defeat. “I was fine, but anxious because of all these layoffs they made. I wasn't very tense. Regardless of what they decided, I would be fine,” he stated.
