Coming from four defeats, Mir rules out retirement: 'I'm still young'

North American veteran has been on a losing streak since the end of 2011, when he beat Minotauro

Despite the bad moment he is going through in his MMA career, Frank mir Don't think about retirement. The veteran comes from four consecutive defeats, and his last triumph only came in 2011, when he submitted Rodrigo Minotauro.

Since then, Mir has lost to junior gypsy when he was trying to regain the UFC heavyweight title; Afterwards, he suffered defeats to Daniel Cormier (decision), Josh Barnett (knockout) and alistair overeem (decision). With the negative sequence, there was a lot of speculation about the fighter's future, but Mir himself ruled out any possibility of stopping fighting.

“I just turned 35 a few weeks ago. As a heavyweight, I'm not that old. I think I'm still younger than a lot of people there. I believe that 35 would be a low age to retire. I want to continue acting as a commentator, but I hope to be able to fight for a few more years, because when I retire, it will be for good”, said Mir, in an interview with the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

Interestingly, this Wednesday (19), Mir celebrates the anniversary of a landmark occasion in his career. On June 19, 2004, ten years ago, the fighter celebrated winning the UFC heavyweight title, when he submitted Tim Sylvia after just a few seconds of fighting.
