Frankie Edgar already defeated B.J. Penn on two occasions. And, before the third confrontation against the Hawaiian, anyone who thinks that the former UFC lightweight champion lacks motivation is mistaken. With an eye on a new chance to fight for the belt, Edgar plans a resounding victory in the fight that, this time, will be held in the featherweight category, on July 6, in Las Vegas (USA).

In 2010, Edgar and Penn had two fights that won the UFC lightweight belt. Edgar won both by judges' decision. In the third encounter, the fighter hopes he won't need the judges' sheets to be victorious.

“My motivation is to win the title again. And to do that, I have to win every fight in front of me. I've already beaten BJ twice and I don't want to lose the third time. A guy like BJ is difficult to knock out or submit. I think he was only stopped once, and it was between rounds. It will be a big mountain to climb, but that is my goal. I will try to give him a reason to give up, and he will do the same to me”, commented Edgar, in an interview with the “Submission Radio” podcast.

Edgar's recollection is partially correct. In fact, Penn lost to Georges St Pierre with a technical knockout that occurred due to a withdrawal between rounds. However, the Hawaiian suffered another technical knockout, to Matt hugs, after suffering several blows to the ground.
