For much of his career, Andrei Arlovski had to deal with an uncomfortable label. The fighter, who has already suffered seven knockouts in his career, is called by MMA fans “glass chin”, a nickname given to those who easily succumb to blows.

In an interview with the North American newspaper USA Today, Arlovski expressed irritation with the matter. The Belarusian, who will make his return to the UFC this Saturday (14), stated that he has already given examples in which he endured punishment. “I think this is all bullshit. People say I have a glass chin, but when I fought with Anthony Johnson, the referee dozed off and I broke my jaw in the first round because the referee made a mistake. I fought for two rounds with my jaw broken in two places, and he couldn't knock me out,” explained Arlovski. “In the heavyweight division, if you land a really good punch in the right place, everyone will go down.”

At UFC 174, Arlovski will face Brendan Schaub, currently 14th in the Ultimate heavyweight rankings. “He’s tough, he’s in the UFC rankings. I'm not even in the top 25, so it's an important fight for me. I need to prove that I'm one of the best fighters in the world, and to do that, I have to beat everyone in front of me”, concluded the former champion.
