Mark Muñoz is going through a delicate moment in his career. After losing to Gegard Mousasi at UFC Berlin, on May 31st, which represented his third defeat in his last four fights, the American of Filipino descent confirmed that his contract with Ultimate has expired, so that, at the moment, the fighter is unemployed.

Muñoz stated that he preferred to let the negotiations happen after his fight with Mousasi, so that, in case of victory, he could obtain the best contractual conditions. However, with the defeat by submission in the first round, the fighter admits that his situation is delicate.

“I wanted to have the most favorable contract possible. I was holding back until my last fight. If I had beaten Mousasi, which I didn't, it would probably have increased my chances of getting the conditions I wanted”, explained Muñoz, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster ESPN. “I had every confidence that I would beat Mousasi. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I hope the UFC will take me back.”

Muñoz reiterated his desire to renew his agreement with the UFC. “I’m the kind of guy who wants to stay at the biggest organization. And I have a wife and children, so I want something that is good for my family. I want to stay in the UFC and there is no other organization I want to fight for.”
