The postponement of the rematch for the featherweight belt against champion Pat Curran, which was supposed to take place last weekend and ended up being canceled due to an injury to the American, greatly angered the Brazilian Patrick Pitbull. The native of Rio Grande do Norte, who suffered a disputed defeat to Curran in the first meeting between them, even questioned the legitimacy of the injury that forced the rescheduling of the date of the clash, suggesting that the title holder could be faking.

“If you ask me if I suspect (that Curran is faking the injury), of course I suspect. Come on, really? Calf injury? I don't know if it's a serious injury, but he decided to cancel. I hope he comes back 100%, so he won't have any excuses after facing me”, said the Brazilian, in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.

Pitbull's statement began a sequence of offensive messages through the social network Twitter and what we saw was a festival of insults and needling. Outraged by the challenger's accusation, Curran harshly rebutted Patrício. “F*ck yourself if that’s what you think… Sounds like a puppet to me. I defeated you before and I will defeat you again. Remember this!” he snapped. The Brazilian did not let it go and wanted his rejoinder. “You defeated me? This is funny. You were crestfallen, your team was praying. None of you could believe (in victory)”, he provoked. “There’s a reason I’m still the champion. And YES, I defeated you. Anyone with half a brain knows that,” countered Curran.

But the discussion didn't stop there. “You used your illness to gain an undeserved title shot. Do you think this was fair? Now who has to f*ck themselves? Who is the crying baby?”, accused Pitbull, who did not go unanswered. “Why don't you cry some more? Bellator wants to put on the best fights for the fans. Forget it. F*ck yourself again and have a great day!” shouted Curran. “While you wish bad things on me and tell me to f*ck myself, I truly hope that God will bless you and give you a speedy recovery. I’m looking forward to the time when you sign the contract and Bellator gives us a date”, challenged the native of Rio Grande do Norte.

The story then began to involve other people, such as fans and even Bellator's official profile on the microblogging network. At this time, even Jeff Curran, Pat's older brother, was already participating in the controversy. “Just ignore this sh*t, Pat. We will resolve this soon. This guy only has one more fight before he’s out of a job,” he commented. The confusion ended in an unusual way, with Patrício sending his full name and date of birth so that Curran could buy his plane tickets to the United States, after the rivals “arranged” a fight. Despite this, according to the Brazilian himself, Bellator is considering rescheduling the featherweight title rematch for the month of July.
