UFC president Dana White wasn't happy to see the light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, preferring a fight against Daniel Cormier instead of having a rematch with Alexander Gustafson. The director stated that the Swede deserved to be the next to fight for the title, and “DC” himself is not opposed to that.
“Gustafsson is next in line. Even Cormier said, 'I hope everything goes well for me and that I get the chance to fight for the title, but even I myself believe that Gustafsson deserves to be next,'” explained White, in an interview with the North American publication Albuquerque Newspaper.

In video, Jon Jones responds: 'It's my career, not yours'
According to White, Jones, in the position of champion, should not turn down opponents. “You are the champion, the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, and you say you want to be known as the best in history. Well then, don't deny opponents. You need to fight all the best in the world anyway. You are the man, everyone is running after you,” he pointed out.
Jones and Gustafsson have already faced each other, in what was considered the “Fight of the Year” of 2013. After five rounds of intense competition, Jones was named the winner in the judges' decision. After that, the Swede defeated Jimi Manuwa in March, guaranteeing the right to fight for the belt.
