The main fight of UFC 291Inter Justin gaethje e Dustin poirier, in addition to the 'BMF' belt, it could be worth a place in the lightweight belt dispute (up to 70,3kg) against the winner of 'Islam makhachev x Charles of the Bronx', who will fight for the title in October. Gaethje, who in 2020 had the chance to become linear champion of the category, but ended up defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov, has a special motivation.
Asked who he considers the fighter most capable of dethroning Islam makhachev in light weight, Justin gaethje pointed Alexander Volkanovsky, based on the last clash between the featherweight (up to 65,7kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3kg) champions, but assured that, if he gets a chance, he intends to prove to everyone that 'Makhachev is not Khabib'.

“If we are going to base ourselves on what we know, then I think it is Alexander Volkanovsky, because he already fought him and it was a very close fight. I never faced him, Poirier never faced him. (…) I think Volkanovski is the answer for now, but I can't wait to face him. I’m sure he’s not Khabib and I want to go in there to prove it,” said Gaethje.
Justin gaethje e Dustin poirier face each other in the main fight of the UFC 291, this Saturday (29), valid for the Ultimate BMF belt. In the co-main fight of the event, Alex Poatán light heavyweight debut against former champion Jan Blachowicz.
